この度，構造強度学研究室元助教の山本が特任准教授に，計算安全工学研究室元D3の西が学術研究員に着任しました。

中国からの研究生の李・潘，八戸工業高等専門学校からのJoseph Galbreathを迎えてM1が7名に，工学部建築・社会環境工学科の宇佐美，飛彈野，藤田，渡邊を迎えてB4が4名になりました。また，フィリピンからNilo Lemuel J. Dolojanを研究生として迎えました。

これにより4月8日時点で教授1名，准教授1名，特任准教授1名，助手1名，学術研究員1名，秘書1名の6名のスタッフ，工学研究科D3が2名，D2が2名，M2が5名，M1が7名，工学部B4が4名，研究生が1名，社会人ドクターが5名となり，6名のスタッフとあわせて合計32名がこの研究室に在籍することになりました。

学部4年の韓と山中が平成30年度卒業論文発表会のベストオブプレゼンテーション賞を受賞しました。本賞は卒業論文発表会で優秀な発表をした上位5名の学生に与えられる賞で韓が1位，山中が3位でした。

修士2年の大川が平成30年度修士論文発表会のベストオブプレゼンテーション賞を受賞しました。本賞は優秀な発表をした学生に与えられる賞で構造系から本年度のベストオブプレゼンテーション賞を受賞したのは大川を含め2名でした。なお，同研究室の上原は次点でした。
